The Aussie market is poised to open higher later this morning, after US stocks hit record highs overnight.

SPI futures are up 27 points, at 5578.

On Wall Street, the Dow Jones added 0.6%, the S&P 500 rose 0.7% and Nasdaq added 1%.

Asia closed mixed, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 gaining 0.5% but the MSCI AC Asia Pacific index falling 0.3%.

London’s benchmark FTSE 100 jumped 1.1% while Germany’s DAX added 0.8% overnight.

In local news today, the Westpac-Melbourne Institute consumer sentiment index survey will be released and paints and adhesives supplier DuluxGroup will hold its annual general meeting.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics is also set to release net motor vehicle sales for November.
