The Aussie market is poised to open sharply higher later this morning, following a strong overnight lead from Wall Street and gains across Europe.

SPI futures are up 42 points (+0.8%) at, at 5523.

The Dow Jones closed 1.6% higher, while the S&P500 and Nasdaq were both more than 1% stronger.

Elsewhere, London's FTSE 100 index gained 1.8% for its highest close in a month, boosted by bank and mining stocks.

Later on Thursday, the Australian Bureau of Statistics is set to release its international trade figures for October.

In equities news, Ten Network holds its annual general meeting in Sydney, while energy supplier Santos holds an investor briefing.
