Welcome to MarketPulse, the Australian Stock Report's financial market blog. In the MarketPulse blog we aim to provide frequent updates on current events across the financial markets, including market wraps, articles in the news, opinions, reviews, financial education and finally our top tip of the week. The blog is published by the Australian Stock Report research and report editing team together with our very own "Passionate Trader", Carl Capolingua.

The Australian market looks set to open flat following a poor performance on Wall Street where a bounce in Apple failed to offset concerns that the US Federal Reserve could raise interest rates sooner rather than later.

Locally, in economic news, Reserve Bank of Australia governor Glenn Stevens is slated to speak at a Trans-Tasman Business Circle function in Sydney, while the ANZ-Roy Morgan weekly consumer confidence survey is due out.

In equities news, Boart Longyear holds its annual general meeting in Adelaide.
