The Aussie market is poised to open lower following falls on Asian and European markets overnight, as fears regarding global economic growth persist and the price of oil continues to fall.

The SPI futures contract is down 35 points, at 4782.

In local economic news today, the Australian Bureau of Statistics is due to release November lending finance figures while the ANZ-Roy Morgan weekly consumer confidence survey is also expected.

Deloitte is slated to release its predictions for 2016 and HSBC has an economics briefing.

In equities space, Rio Tinto is expected to release its fourth quarter production report, while AMCIL is slated to post half year financial results.

Malcolm Turnbull concludes his official two-day visit to the US. Rio will release its fourth-quarter operations review at 8.30am Sydney time. Westpac consumer confidence January.

China 4th Qtr GDP. China December industrial production, retail sales, fixed asset investment.

UK inflation for December. German ZEW for January. US homebuilder optimism index for January. US Congressional Budget Office annual budget and economic outlook.

Earnings: Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, Netflix, IBM, Delta Air Lines.
