The Australian market gained ground today, despite a mixed lead from international markets overnight.
At home the sectors close mostly positive, with IT and telcos leading the charge higher. Financials were the biggest drag on the market, not helped by NAB's 2.7% slump.
The rest of the big four didn't fare much better, with CBA (-0.4%), ANZ (-1.1%) and Westpac (-1.5%) all weakening. The mining majors continued their run higher on the back of stronger commodities. BHP advanced 1.3% and Rio Tinto added 0.7%.
The ASX 200 put on 12 points (+0.3%) to settle at 4571. For the week the index surged 1.9%.
