InVitro International is engaged in the development of non-animal testing methods. Its products include Invitro Irritection and Corrositex. The Irritection assay system is a quantitative invitro test method that can be employed to detect, rank and predict the ocular and/or dermal irritation potential of cosmetics, consumer products, pharmaceuticals and chemical raw materials. Its corrositex is an invitro test that determines chemical corrosivity and permits assignment of packing group classification for Class 8 corrosives. The Irritection assay system provides an alternative to the traditional animal tests of ocular and/or dermal irritancy, and is considerably less expensive than in vivo tests. Its corrositex test replaces the rabbit test of dermal corrosivity by providing a means of mimicking this test.
